Our first job was to check in at the
Administrative Office. Cherry responds to all the boats in the park
area assigning them a mooring ball. She is kept very busy and does
her job so pleasantly and efficiently! To get there we went by dinghy.

Written on an old conch shell was the
name of the park as we walked up the steps to the station. There was
also another shell stating the fishing rules.
On the porch of the station there are
the bones of a pilot whale that was found stranded on Normans Cay.
The scenery around the office is
breathtaking to me!
They had some Poisonwood Trees around
the deck and pointed out with a sign explaining why the bark from this tree should not be touched.
We ran into a couple that we met at
Bimini. It is always fun to see people that we've met along the
way! We took a hike together and later went snorkeling together.
On the beach there are whale bones with
the explanation that this whale was killed when he ate a plastic bag.
Very sad!
The environment here is drastically so
different from one area to another. In just 4 steps it went from beach to desert!
On this hike we were headed to BooBoo Hill. To get there we had to cross the Banshee Creek. We were at high tide so we had to wade through shin-high water. Upon our return, it was low tide and we were walking on the sand bottom.

Here's our sign keeping us on track. |
This is Boo Boo Hill. We'll soon be climbing up to the top!
This is the path up. |
Right at the top we get to choose where we go first. |
These are some of the blow holes. If it had been high tide we would have seen water gushing up through them.
Some views at the top of Boo Boo Hill. Everything was so crystal clear from up there!
Our favorite boat waiting for our return! |

One of the animals that are endangered
on the islands are Hutia's. They look kind of like guinea pigs - a
little hairier. We saw some of their tracks.
