Warderick Wells #3

Here are some underwater pictures from Warderick Wells that I took while snorkeling. It is so great to have access to an underwater camera!  I had to make the choice of using a setting especially for underwater photos that would have given clearer color to things, or the regular setting so that I could zoom in (zoom didn't work with the underwater feature). I tried both. The photos were clearer with the underwater setting, but I liked the zoom better.  There were a lot of fish some with very bright colors.  The many different kinds of coral were tremendous as well!

These are Yellowtail Fish.  Someone told us that if we catch one of these, all we have to do is fillet it and eat it right then and there!  It's what they serve at a sushi restaurant.

Our friend, Nick, dove down and found a large Spiny Lobster in a hole (see photo below).

Rock Beauty - This was my favorite fish - it's colors, yellow and a deep blue, were bright and beautiful.

A Type of Wrasse

We waded along the shoreline to discover what looked like a nursery for conchs of various sizes!

This is a Curb.  The Park Ranger told me these are from the Prehistoric era and, yes, they are alive!  We saw them all along the shoreline attached solidly to the rocks.  The only way to get them off the rock is to pry them with a strong rod.  The natives eat them.  After getting them off the rock, they cut into and take out the inside.  The Bahamians make a salad called Curbs and Conch.  Haven't seen it on a menu yet.

Looking for more Conch!
