Black Point, Great Guana Cay

Laundry Day!!!!  Black Point has the best, the cleanest and the most washers and dryers in all of the Exumas!  We haven't washed any clothes for over 3 or 4 weeks!  Never dreamed I'd be excited to do laundry!  It's amazing what one appreciates when it's not available to you!
Rockside Laundromat sign.  Many of the buildings all through the Exumas are home to more than one business.

The laundromat from the outside.  I would love to have this view out my window while doing laundry!

There are so many appliances!  It cost $3.75 for each washer and dryer.  Well worth it!

There were about 4 of these on a wall outside the laundromat.
Laundry view from the harbor

The harbor where we are anchored.

Another lizard - only look how long it's tail is!!

We spent the first afternoon just doing laundry.  The next day we dinghied back to town to walk around.  We walk as much as we can around all the island towns we've visited.  It's a good way to see how the people live in these areas.

In general, there is a lot of unfinished buildings - some people start to renovate and then it never gets finished.  Someone told us that the Government doesn't charge taxes if the person hasn't completed their building work, so often things are left undone to avoid paying the taxes.  Interesting!  There are never many houses on the islands.  Some of the houses are very nice and kept up well.  Some people have beautiful yards.  Everything is very different from the States.

My laptop is running out of "juice" and I can't charge it again until we run the generator and that won't be run until the boat's engine is low on power (we have been doing great with keeping up our power for the boat) or I can talk Ed into splurging and running it for charging purposes!  If I had my way...........

Black Point to be continued.............................!
