Black Point #2

Another popular place on Black Point, besides the laundry, is the restaurant, Lorraine's.  We were told it was a great place to eat.  After talking to a couple we ran into when we got to Black Point, who ate at Lorraine's, we got a whole different point of view.  They had the worst meal they have ever had in all their travels in the Bahamas!  So, we decided to give it a try for lunch and, if we liked it, we'd make a reservation for dinner. ( After our enjoyable meal, my theory was that our friends went on an off day.)  This was St. Patrick's Day so Lorraine was having a buffet celebration that evening.

We had a delightful time with a very good buffet.  Lorraine's baby back ribs were my favorite.   After dinner, Lorraine celebrated with giving all the ladies green plastic beaded necklaces.  Also, she honored birthdays and anniversaries.  There was one birthday and we all sang the birthday song to her, but Lorraine also made a train with others following her to music around the tables to wish her a good birthday!

Along our walk of the island......

a small beach with a little bit of shelling

Regatta Park

a beautiful butterfly

There were several of these plants in a row, each in a different color.....

This plant looked like a mimosa.  It had these small berries on the branches.

Our friends, Bruce and Gayleen, told us to look for the Garden of Eden when we came to Black Point.  Well, we hiked up and down the streets looking for a sign or something to tell us where it was.  We saw a street sign pointing to the left 1/2 mile - so, off we went.  Not there - there was a police station at that mile mark (we were sure this wouldn't be considered the Garden of Eden!).  We finally asked someone and they led us back to where we just were - down that same road.  Ed and I passed a stone garden and we thought, just maybe, this was it, but no sign.  Again we asked someone and they let us right back to the stone garden.

Must be here, or maybe there........

At long last.....the Garden of Eden!

The Tree right in the center of the garden.

This was a unique way to landscape a yard!

Coming up next.........Bitter Guana Cay.......Yay - more Iguanas!
